Nestled in the heart of Taylors Lakes, the Watergardens Hotel boasts of warm atmosphere, an ever changing International Buffet and a newly renovated sports bar with new TAB facilities, complimented by a deliciously satisfying Bar menu , modern dining and entertainment facilities.

The Hotel features a function space which can be easily configured to accommodate a variety of occasions from small meetings to larger celebrations of up to 100 guests.

About the role

In your new role you will be responsible for managing and training the kitchen brigade to deliver great food to all guests. You will be required to assist the Head Chef in managing day to day kitchen operations whilst maintaining cost controls in line with the hotel budget. You will be passionate about food, hands-on, work hard to achieve high quality products and services in all outlets.

Duties/responsibilities

  • Manage food cost & payroll cost controls to contribute to food and beverage revenue
  • Ensure all food production is in line with food and company standards
  • Menu creation, costing, production, quality control and staff training
  • Assist the Head Chef to lead, train and inspire the kitchen brigade effectively to ensure a well organised and motivated team
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of quality, well-presented food to our guests
  • Versatile, be able to work in different areas of production and ensure high quality customer service standards.
  • Strong experience in buffet production, a la carte and function operations.
  • Demonstrate a working understanding of food, hygiene and safety principles, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Support training, assessment and coaching of the culinary team.

Requirements

  • An experienced hands on Chef with a sound knowledge of modern international cuisine and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Must be able to work in our team and be a real team player
  • Must have the ability to instill a good work ethic and passion in your team
  • Must be forward thinking and have a creative flair
  • Excellent personal presentation
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • Customer service driven
  • Great problem solving skills and initiative
  • Friendly and outgoing personality with a professional motivated attitude
  • You must have the right to live and work in this location to apply for this job
