The hours of this position are Tuesday 9am - 2pm, Wednesday 11am – 2pm, Thursday 11am – 3pm, and Friday 10am – 2pm

Council has an ongoing commitment to providing high quality Social Support Groups for older people living with dementia and their carers, as well as those with a disability.


We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Program Worker / Kitchen Hand to support our range of innovative programs for older people living with dementia or cognitive changes, and those with a disability.

You will prepare and plate meals for the clients attending the Social Support Programs across the week of operation (Tuesday to Friday), as well as providing coverage for lunch breaks of Program staff. This role will work collaboratively to ensure that all OH&S requirements and safe food handling practices are adhered to, as well as ensuring that the clients have freshly cooked meals.


The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe food handling practices, record keeping and documentation required for Food Safety Audits
• Proven ability in administration components and IT competency in similar environments
• Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds including those with dementia, disability, cultural diversity and social isolation is desirable
• Ability to provide personal care assistance to clients
• Good communication skills, time management skills and problem solving ability
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members to cover staff taking lunch breaks by providing assistance and being present in the groups
• Ability to drive a variety of Council vehicles including a 12 seater bus
