The Brunswick Mess Hall is a bustling Asian Hawker style restaurant nestled on Sydney Rd in the heart of Brunswick. Part of 100 Burgers Group of Brands, The Brunswick Mess Hall is a unique dining experience.

We are on the hunt for a creative and technically sound Pastry Chef to lead the pastry program at the Mess Hall. Yes, we want all the regular stuff i.e. confident in running your section, organised, strong in busy services and someone who can contribute to our team but we also want someone who wants to do things a bit differently and has a natural tendency towards experimentation and innovation.

A typical day on the job for you can include:

  • Working with the Head Chef to develop the pastry program including breads, desserts and items for function menus
  • Documenting recipes and method cards for use across the kitchen
  • Ensuring prep procedures, recipes, cooking methods and portion guidelines are followed for each menu item
  • Contriuting to the organisation and smooth running of the kitchen
  • Ensuring exceptional food quality and service standards are delivered
  • Maintaining safe food practices and food safety compliance

To be successful in the role you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years as a Pastry Chef
  • A genuine passion for cooking
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work under pressure & is prepared to go the extra mile
