About the role

We are looking for a Head Chef with the ability to take ownership of the kitchen, demonstrate strong leadership, create seasonal menus, work in a small team and ensure that recipes, food cost and procedures are being followed in detail.

Our exposed kitchen requires a positive personality and willingness to work in a dynamic environment while producing high quality food, following OH&S procedures and providing the best customer service experience.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Develop a revised and seasonal menus
• Prepare all food according to standard and following procedures closely
• Lead the operation of the kitchen
• Ensure adequate food levels are maintained for smooth running
• Complete all checklists and reporting requirements
• Inventory management
• Occupational health and safety

Applicants will only be required to work Tuesday to Saturday.

Skills and experience

It is vital to have the following:

• Passion for food, quality and customer service
• Outstanding communications skills
• Capacity for following procedures and guaranteeing consistency
• Previous experience managing all elements of an operational kitchen
• A solid understanding of food flavour profiles and food offering,
• Understanding of back of house processes and management including COG's, wage costs, and forecasting
• A team leader who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty and lead by example
• A desire to build a team of engaged and knowledgeable staff who strive to bring delicious food to every single guest in the restaurant
• A problem solver with a positive attitude

Experience in leading a kitchen environment and qualifications in Commercial Cookery will be regarded.
