Our Club is looking for a talented, hands-on and enthusiastic Head Chef to join our small, dedicated Hospitality Team in a permanent role. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Head Chef is responsible for the management and efficient running of the Kitchen and Club Food Services including day-to-day Cafe/Bistro, as well as Member and Non-Member Functions & Events. The Head Chef works closely with our Hospitality Manager to ensure that the Club’s overall Food & Beverage services offer variety, high quality and consistency to our Members and guests.

This role would suit an experienced Chef looking for stable, attractive hours with limited late nights. Club experience would be preferred but is not essential.

What you would be doing

  • Responsible for the supervision, rostering and training of other cooks and kitchen employees
  • Responsible for the general and specialised cooking, butchering, baking and pastry cooking requirements of the Club.
  • In conjunction with the Hospitality Manager, prepare the menu for café/bistro, function and snack requirements, ensuring excellent presentation and customer service to patrons.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of all menu items and ensure all standard recipes are adhered to.
  • Responsible for the ordering of stock, stock control and implementation of stocktake procedures for the kitchen.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and the club’s Food Program, Health & Safety requirements and kitchen cleaning including the training of kitchen employees in such matters.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Relevant qualifications
  • Creative, and passionate about food and providing high standards of food service
  • Great communication skills and ability to keep cool, calm and collected under pressure
  • Function & A la Carte experience
  • Understanding of Club environment useful but not essential
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • If you love Golf - even better!!!

About the company

We are a Semi-Private Golf Club in Melbourne's South East with a friendly and passionate Membership. Our Club facilities also cater for non-member guests and local residents via our Bar and Bistro/Cafe as well as our generous function room. We are currently looking to expand the usage of our facilities and are looking for a committed and passionate Head Chef to join our small team and put their own individual stamp on our catering offerings.
