We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Chef to lead and manage the Food Services area on a full time basis at our Menarock Life Emmavale facility, located in Templestowe Lower.

About the role:

In this role, you will be responsible for preparation and delivery of high quality nutritious meals to residents whilst ensuring a high standard of food safety is maintained, supervising a dedicated team of staff, menu planning, stock control and ordering. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation, presentation and serving of high quality food to residents in accordance with food safety legislation
  • Leading and managing a team of qualified food services assistants
  • Ensuring compliance with the food safety plan at all times
  • Menu planning ensuring the provision of choice for residents and diet requirements
  • Maintaining accurate kitchen documentation
  • Maintaining appropriate stock and overseeing ordering
  • Ensuring the kitchen area and equipment is cleaned and maintained to an appropriate standard
  • Developing and maintaining key relationships with residents, staff and facility management
  • Assuming the role of Food Safety Supervisor at the site.

About you:

  • Trade or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years experience cooking in Aged Care
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team
  • Demonstrated experience in menu planning, ordering and budget management
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of diverse and modified dietary requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for food and the preparation of appetising and nutritious meals for our residents.
