The Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria is a long established not for profit organisation providing care and accommodation for older Victorians.

We currently have the following positions available to join our kitchen team in contributing to the quality food/catering services for residents, at our beautiful Eltham location.

Food Service Assistant

A part time Food Services Assistant position is available to join our kitchen team. Shifts currently available include morning and afternoon shifts (approximately 25.5 hours per fortnight) and may include weekend shifts.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in food preparation in aged care residential services along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisational skills, be a team player and have proven experience in relating to a diverse range of people.

Main duties include:

• Preparation, serving, presentation, and delivery of food and refreshments in accordance with the Food Safety Program (FSP)
• Contributes to menu planning to meet care recipients’ needs and preferences
• Washing dishes and cleaning in accordance with the FSP
• Assists in the monitoring and recording requirements of the FSP for example, recording temperatures, cleaning schedule completion, receipt of goods
• Basic computer skills

Current Police Check and Food Handlers Certificate are essential.

Cook

An opportunity also exists for an experienced Cook to contribute to quality care and services for residents through providing a high standard of food/catering services.

This role is a casual position and will include various shifts and may include weekends.

The successful applicant must have the following:-

• Food Services Supervisor certificate
• Experience in the documentation required under the Food, Public Health and Wellbeing Act
• Experience in menu planning
• A current Police Check
• Manual Handling certificate

The ideal candidates will have experience working in food services in residential services along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong organisational skills.
