The Position

St John of God Berwick Hospital opened in January 2018 and is our new 210 bed modern hospital providing a range of services including medical, surgical, day surgery, six state-of-the-art operating theatres, recovery unit and onsite medical consulting suites.

We are seeking a suitably experienced Executive Chef to lead the catering team in ensuring quality catering and customer service is provided to all patients in collaboration with the Catering Distribution Supervisor. Responsibilities of this hands-on position include the preparation and cooking of food items, and the overall management of the kitchen functions, food safety, dietary, budget requirements, and upholding the motivation of catering Caregivers.

This position will be offered on a permanent full time basis.

The successful candidate will have:

• A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
• Qualification in Commercial Cooking.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
• Previous experience within a managerial role within a commercial kitchen.
• Previous experience with food safety programs, and HACCP principles.
• Well-developed problem solving, and multi-tasking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous experience with financial/budget management.
• Experience within a hospital kitchen environment would be advantageous.
