Seeking fully qualified chef for busy cafe in the eastern suburbs. Salary dependant on experience.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
-Follow the directions of the Head Chef and Sous Chef
-Ensure that all mise-en-place is always freshly prepared, at sufficient quantities and on time
-Ensure that all dishes are being prepared to the correct recipe and to the correct quantity
-Ensure that all dishes reach the passe correctly garnished, portioned and presented in the prescribed manner
-Ensure that any anticipated shortages are communicated promptly to the Souse Chef or Head Chef
-Ensure that all stock is kept under optimum conditions
-Ensure that assigned section is being kept clean and tidy at all times
-Ensure that junior chefs and trainees receive the right training and optimum guidance
-Comply with health, safety and hygiene guidelines and regulations
-Complete opening and closing duties for each shift
-Attend training courses and seminars when required to do so and strive to continually make professional advancements
Skills and Experience
-Proven experience in a Chef role
-Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, tools and processes
-Ability to multitask
-Ability to work efficiently under pressure
-Great time management skills
-Great communication and interpersonal skills
-Knowledge of best and latest cooking practices
-Culinary school diploma
