Experienced childcare cooks required for casual jobs across Melbourne, both one day placements and long-term.

HAYS Education are seeking cooks with a childcare background for short and long-term assignment in services within all regions of Melbourne.

Your new role

As a casual, you may be placed at various centres as required. These include council-run, privately owned, and not-for-profit services, with the number of children you will be catering for varying from 40-120. You will be responsible for preparing and serving meals (taking into account any allergies and dietary requirements), cleaning dishes and keeping the kitchen tidy. For longer term assignments you may also be responsible for meal planning and maintaining stock levels.

What you'll need to succeed

You must be able to demonstrate knowledge and a good understanding of meal plans and children's nutrition. Outstanding organisation and time management skills will see you succeed. In order to apply for this role you must have a minimum of 6 months experience as a cook in a Childcare Service. You must hold a current Food Handling certificate, WWCC and have very strong communication skills. A Certificate III in Children's Services is highly desirable but not compulsory. As a casual relief worker, we expect you to be reliable and confident in your abilities. You will be required to work with little guidance, and quickly build rapport with children and staff.
