About the Role
In this role you will provide personal care and domestic assistance to clients in their own homes. This would include assistance with self-care, mobility, general household cleaning, escorted shopping, and driving clients to appointments.
You will have experience working with and understanding of the issues of frail aged people, people with dementia, people with disabilities and their families.
Our clients are based (and not limited to) in South Yarra, Caulfield, Bentleigh, Carnegie & Port Phillip.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with a range of personal care, cleaning and light domestic duties
- Support clients to maintain and/or develop independent living skills and routines
- Monitor the physical, social and emotional well-being of the client and report issues
- Be responsible for taking immediate action in an emergency to ensure the safety of clients, themselves and the community
- Resolve minor problems/enquires/requests and refer issues to the Team leader where required
- Develop an effective, positive and respectful working relationship with clients respecting cultural values and beliefs
Skills and Experience
- ESSENTIAL - Certificate III/ IV in Home and Community Care, OR Certificate III/ IV in Aged Care (completed after 2012) OR Certificate III/ IV in Individual Support OR Certificate IV in Ageing Support
- ESSENTIAL - current driving licence and car
- ESSENTIAL - available to work full time hours Monday to Friday
- Experience working with and understanding of the issues of frail aged people, people with dementia, and their carers
- Ability to monitor client wellbeing and communicate concerns to service co-ordinators / team leaders
- Ability to relate and communicate with older people, people with dementia and their carers / families
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to speak Russian, Polish, Hebrew, Yiddish would be highly desirable
