The Caulfield RSL is currently looking for a FULL-TIME Commi chef within our kitchen team. The Commi Chef will be given the opportunities for assisting in the effective operation of the Kitchen. This will be achieved by working as a team with other Kitchen staff to provide the appropriate quality and level of service to our members and guests by adhering to Kitchen policies and procedures.

What will I be doing?

Member/Customer Service

Support a member first culture that delivers excellent service to all and optimize revenue through increased member/guest usage by demonstrating a ‘can do’ attitude and identify opportunities to improve service delivery through the use of appropriate feedback processes.

Teamwork

Maintain a commitment to workplace objectives by supporting peers and management in the day-to-day operations. Contribute to team meetings and support and recommend changes to improve business and operating efficiencies.

Product & Service

Delivery

Maintain knowledge of, and deliver products and services to members and customers that are compliant with standard operating procedures. This includes an awareness of overall RSL and local business activities that provide opportunities for increased member/guest usage and revenue of our facilities.

What are we looking for?

A highly motivated, friendly and professional chef to always be available to serve and assist our kitchen team and enjoying the challenges / rewards working alongside fellow team members. To be successful within this role you must process certain Knowledge / Skills / Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of all food items and base cooking techniques
  • Knowledge of Kitchen sections and associated service styles.
  • Knowledge in the procedures and mis en place of the assigned section.
  • Strong grasp of stock rotation.
  • Training techniques, in particular “on the job” methods.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Good food preparation skills for the assigned section of the kitchen such as grill, larder, buffet and functions / banquets.
  • Time management skills with the ability to co-ordinate multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Promote morale and encourages teamwork
